For new security-focused deployments, MIFARE DESFire EV3 supports AES-128 cryptography, mutual authentication, secure messaging, encrypted RF communication, and a flexible multi-application architecture in compatible access systems. Supported MIFARE credentials can then be linked to user identities and assigned access rights in Access360, helping organizations manage card-based access across authorized doors, areas, and facilities.

MIFARE DESfire EV3
Built for modern, security-focused access. MIFARE DESFire EV3 combines AES-128 cryptography, mutual authentication, secure messaging, and encrypted RF communication to protect credential data in compatible access environments. Designed to keep established MIFARE environments working. MIFARE Classic supports contactless access across compatible reader and credential estates already in service. Planning a move from MIFARE DESFire EV1 or EV2?

NXP recommends MIFARE DESFire EV3 for new designs & lists DESFire EV1 and EV2 as not recommended for new designs. Organizations with existing EV1 or EV2 deployments can plan their transition to EV3 around reader compatibility, credential issuance, system configuration, & operational timelines.
