Integrated cybersecurity protection
Security functions are built into the controller hardware and firmware. Features such as ARM TrustZone, secure boot verification, hardware crypto support, and encrypted communication help protect credentials and system configuration data.Flexible reader and door support
The controller supports up to four readers controlling two doors on the main board. Expansion modules connected through RS-485 allow the system to scale up to 64 readers or openings when additional interface devices are added.Local processing for Access Control
Access decisions, schedules, and event handling are processed within the controller itself. This allows the MP1502 intelligent controller to continue managing doors and readers as part of distributed Mercury access control deployments.Business continuity
Legacy LP/EP-based access control deployments can be upgraded with MP1502, ensuring business continuity with a new processor part of a multi-year longevity program, dual footprint circuit designs and the same reliable LP/EP interface & footprint.

The Mercury MP1502 controller operates on 12–24 VDC (±10%) input power. The base board typically draws up to 500 mA, while reader ports can require additional current depending on connected devices.
Access to the MP1502 intelligent controller is handled through the access control software used in the deployment. The controller is discovered on the network, then administrators configure it through the host system for monitoring and device setup.
Configuration usually begins by connecting the MP1502 controller to power and the network. The controller is then added to the access control platform, where installers configure readers, door settings, access levels, and system parameters.
For access control installations, the MP1502 controller should use a single properly defined earth ground reference. Grounding practices are typically defined by the installation guidelines used for the overall access control system.
The MP1502 intelligent controller supports multiple reader technologies, including OSDP, Wiegand, clock-and-data, magnetic stripe, and F/2F reader interfaces. These options allow integration with a wide range of credential readers and access control hardware.
